ORIGINAL STORY

In uncertain and restless times, a fight broke out between two Dunkin' Donuts customers on Mother’s Day morning. A spectator in line caught the fight on video and says she was shocked to see something like this happen in this area.

"All of a sudden, a car zoomed past us on our right and cut the line. The guy that he cut in front of did not seem happy. He got out of the car and knocked on the window. I’m pretty sure he told him: 'Hey, get to the back of the line. We’ve all been waiting.' Things got pretty heated. The guy who cut the line got out of his car and they just started swinging at each other. We all were just kind of watching in amazement. Personally, I’ve never seen anything like that here." - says the spectator.

The line that morning was very long. Dunkin' Donuts staff did not witness the fight and did not know what happened until after police were called by a customer in line.

"We have cameras, but it was out of our camera range so we weren’t aware that it happened until after it did. It’s a shame. People should be more kind to each other right now." - said Dunkin' Donuts Manager, Kevin Saylor

The spectator says the fight did not last very long and when a lady in line yelled for them to stop, they went back to their respective cars. She says Richland Police arrived about 5 to 10 minutes after. Police asked them both to exit the line and statements were taken. The spectator says the young man claimed it was self-defense.

The Richland Police Department has not filed the citation yet but say it should be done by the end of the day.
