JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Ghost Town Trail has officially been named the 2020 trail of the year.
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced the accomplishment Monday, noting the trail’s rich history of railroading.
Formed 25 years ago, the Ghost Town Trail was originally just a 12-mile stretch before transforming into the 46-mile trail it is now, running through former coal mining towns.
Once its upcoming extension is complete, the Ghost Town Trail is close to becoming the first continuous loop of rail trail in eastern United States history. Read More...
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Officials have identified the man accused of threatening to harm his children, causing a lockdown at the Penn State campus.
Lee Son Yom, 52, of Pine Grove, was arrested at the Motel 6 in West Hanover Township in Dauphin County, near Harrisburg, on Sunday, state police said.
Yom called his sons, who are Penn State students and threatened to drive to Hamilton Hall and shoot them with a shotgun, state police said. Read More...
BEDFORD, Pa. - Parents of students at the Saint Thomas School in Bedford have sent a notice to Father Richard Tomkosky claiming he violated Canon Law over the decision to close the school at the end of the academic year.
The notice is dated March 28 and says that officials decided to close the school January 4.
Diocese officials said in January the decision was made due to financial concerns and declining enrollment. Read More...
